O’Dell Engineering, a Westwood company provided civil engineering, land surveying, landscape architecture, and utility coordination services for this CML-funded traffic calming and safety project in Caltrans District 10. The project included a roundabout, improved traffic efficiency, reduced emissions, and pedestrian crosswalks.
The goal of the project was to ease congestion and pedestrian traffic by converting this five-leg-all-way stop controlled intersection into a roundabout. The roundabout improved operations to Level of Service (LOS) A, reduced the number of stops drivers make, improved traffic efficiency, and reduced emissions. In addition, the project upgraded pedestrian crosswalks adjacent to Patterson High School. Improved pedestrian facilities included high visibility yellow crosswalks with modified angles, which enhanced both driver and pedestrian awareness and visibility.
