O’Dell Engineering believes in designing for purpose. We aim to bring spaces to life that will spark joy, bring communities together, and support recreational and social needs. Michael Vega Park in River Islands does just that. In addition to the daily recreation opportunities the space provides, the park also hosts movie nights, community gatherings, and seasonal events.

Michael Vega Park was River Islands’ first recreational facility and includes opportunities for multi-generational activities within flexible arrival plazas, making sure everyone in the community can get involved. The park features playgrounds, seating along the water, as well as a picnic grove for residents, visitors, and community members to enjoy. O’Dell provided visioning and conceptual design services through final construction administration for this park and is overjoyed to see it being utilized as a cornerstone for community events in River Islands.

The park also features a large great lawn, perfect for community events such as the Summer Concert Series hosted by River Islands. The Stockton Symphony will be holding concerts at Michael Vega Park this summer, free to the community! We love to see spaces being utilized in unique, fun, and engaging ways.

The next concerts will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 19 and Thursday, September 23! The Stockton Symphony will be playing for about an hour and performances will vary from contemporary jazz, percussion, keyboard, and cello. You can enjoy listening to the third oldest orchestra in California from the comfort of your picnic blanket on the lawn or take a seat at the Boathouse’s outdoor patio to enjoy the music while you grab a bite to eat. You don’t want to miss out!
