Project Surveyor – Fresno
Position Description:
Project Surveyors support Project Management staff by leveraging survey knowledge and resources to help with each project from start to finish. They do this by providing research, support, and input for proposal preparation, coordination with field crews to collect data and information according to a written scope of work, survey data processing, coordination and oversight of technical staff, and quality control.
The position involves the coordination, oversight, technical development, and review of various survey products, including: preparation of filed survey maps (records of survey, parcel maps, tract maps), exhibits, legal descriptions, topographical survey CAD drawings and maps, reports (monitoring, survey control), boundary research, and boundary resolution. Project Surveyors are also frequently called upon to handle special tasks and projects due to their diverse and highly technical skillset. Examples include: task automation, development and maintenance of technical manuals and guidelines, participation in special committees, and handling the unique needs of each project and client.

Project Assistant – Construction Staking Department – Modesto
Position Description:
We are seeking a motivated and organized Project Assistant for our Construction Staking Department in our Modesto office. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Construction Staking Project Manager assisting in day to day operations, both administrative and instructional. Job responsibilities include: maintaining constant and effective communication with field crews and clients, assisting in managing paperwork such as change orders, requests for information, staking requests, information sheets, contracts, job start up forms, and other miscellaneous paperwork.

Position Description:
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a strong knowledge of land surveying principles and practice, possess strong organizational skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to work independently and lead a survey crew effectively. Although most of the survey calculations are performed by office personnel, the ability to perform field calculations is required.

A chainman works as a member of a field survey party under the guidance of a survey party chief. Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have 2 years of relatable experience, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). An experienced and inquisitive self-starter who enjoys dynamic environments with various types of responsibility will thrive in this position. Well-honed written and verbal communication skills are necessary as this individual will represent O’Dell Engineering when communicating externally with clients and vendors, and internally with O’Dell staff members. As assignments will vary, the proven ability to effectively prioritize work, multi-task on several projects, maintain a high level of organization, and adapt to the different needs of our clients is crucial. A clean driving record is required. Essential to the position is a natural aptitude for courteous customer relations in person and over the phone. Experience assisting on projects in the surveying, engineering, and/or construction industry is a plus.

Office Manager – Modesto
Position Description:
5+ years of experience in an office position, preferably exhibiting increasing levels of responsibility, as well as a bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field of study, is highly preferred. An experienced and inquisitive self-starter who enjoys dynamic environments with various types of responsibility will thrive in this position. It is imperative that the candidate understands, respects, and maintains the highly confidential nature of management and acts with immense responsibility and professionalism at all times.
The candidate must be proficient in using MS Outlook, Excel, and Word at a minimum. Experience with Deltek and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The ability to effectively prioritize work, multi-task on several assignments, and show strong organizational skills is a must. Professional appearance and courteous customer relations skills and demeanor are essential. Experience in the engineering and construction industry is a bonus.
The Office Manager’s primary focus is to create and maintain a well-functioning professional environment for technical and support staff to thrive in. This role will be responsible for a variety of assignments which fall under the spheres of accounting, human resources, information technology, and insurance.
Responsibilities and assignments may include:
- Managing routine HR inquiries from inside and outside of the organization.
- Managing the recruiting process.
- Completing the onboarding and offboarding process.
- Maintaining employee personnel files in accordance with company policies and government regulations.
- Retaining records in accordance with company record retention requirements.
- Coordinating training and development programs.
