City Councilman Recommends Modesto Amend General Plan
On Saturday, March 1st, 2014 the Modesto Bee Newspaper reported that Modesto City Councilman Bill Zoslocki wants Modesto to postpone plans for annexing Wood Colony to focus instead on a comprehensive update to its general plan. According to the article the City hasn’t had a comprehensive general plan update in about 20 years.
Mr. Zoslocki believes the update would give Modesto information about where to place business parks and industrial parks in the future. He said it would also provide an opportunity to build trust with Wood Colony residents. Some residents of Wood Colony have vocally opposed the City’s plans for annexation of their neighborhood. The article also stated that Modesto Mayor Garrad Marsh said postponing annexation of Wood Colony could delay making land for business parks along Keirnan Avenue available for three or four years.
