In The News: Master Plan Communities Planned For Jackson Highway Corridor Spur Talk of New Bus Routes
On February 10, 2014 the Sacramento Bee Newspaper reported that the development of four (4) master plan communities along the Jackson Highway Corridor east of Sacramento has the County talking about new bus routes to the area. The construction of the four (4) communities could add as much as 30,000 cars to the highway. To reduce this traffic load the County wants to tax residents of the new communities to pay for new bus service provided by Sacramento Regional Transit. According to the article the a transportation consultant estimates the cost to run buses on the new routes would be 9 million dollars a year.
