Volunteer Projects: Field Work Day Completed On San Joaquin County Public Land Survey System Maintenance and Improvement Project

By admin

On Friday, January 10 the O’Dell Engineering Land Survey Team worked with staff from the City of Manteca on field work for the San Joaquin County PLSS Maintenance and Improvement Project. The project is a volunteer effort coordinated by the San Joaquin County Government Liaison Committee of the California Land Surveyors Association Central Valley Chapter. The ultimate goal of the project is to establish survey grade coordinates on a common reference frame for the PLSS corner monuments in the rural parts of San Joaquin County.

The field work recently completed involved physical inspections of PLSS corner monument locations in the west ½ of Township 1 South, Range 7 East, Mount Diablo Baseline and Meridian. This is the area east of the City of Manteca.

The results of the recent winter field work should be posted online for everyone in the surveying community within the next few weeks.
