In The News: Sacramento Kings/City of Sacramento Land Swap Would Eliminate Need For Lease
On December 12, 2013 the Sacramento Business Journal reported that a proposed land swap between the Sacramento Kings and the City of Sacramento would eliminate the need for the City to lease the land upon which the arena is built. That land is currently owned by the Kings, and the arena will be built by the Kings, but the city will ultimately own the structure. If the land swap goes through the City of Sacramento will own the arena structure and the land it sits on.
The swap would trade three parcels in Downtown Sacramento for the land under the proposed arena.
