On Wednesday, February 26, 2014 the Stockton Record Newspaper reported that planning for the Bear Creek East subdivision in the northeast part of Stockton has been put on hold for at least 18 months. According to the articles, owners of the proposed development project were scheduled to ask the City Council to overturn a rejection of their project by the planning commission. However, the developer notified the City that the appeal was being dropped just before the City Council meeting. The Bear Creek East Development would create 2,100 new urban parcels west of Highway 99 and south of Eight Mile Road.
